The wisdom and teaching of children is lowering rapidly in societal importance. It is becoming less of a cultural and communal effort, resulting in the disassociation of responsibility for the knowledge of children. Through ambiguous childlike figures I manipulate the surrounding environment to funnel or force a viewer’s interaction amongst them. This grants the figures authority in their presence and over their environment. The lack of physical features creates a growing sense of anxiety and tension, inflicting uncertainty in identity – the children and within ourselves. There is a demand the figures make – to be seen and to be heard. Stolen Voices is about responsibility, choice, and the repercussions of today’s actions.
